Welcome to Elderfield Marriage Candidates & Romance Guide
All 9 Welcome to Elderfield marriage candidates, where to find them, how hearts and gifts work, and how to craft the Ring of Binding to propose.
Nine townsfolk in Welcome to Elderfield can be married: Alice, Blorph, Celeste, Edwin, Ellie, Josh, Molly, Sam and Tanner. Romance runs on the same heart meter as every friendship — raise a candidate to 10 hearts, craft a Ring of Binding, and give it to them to start the wedding. This guide covers who they are, where to find them, and the numbers behind the heart meter.
All 9 marriage candidates
| Candidate | Who they are | Where you usually find them |
|---|---|---|
| Alice | Former classmate who collects VHS tapes | School, Town, your Farmhouse |
| Blorph | Lives in the sewers and wants to see life above ground | Sewers, your Farmhouse |
| Celeste | A ghost who haunts the Library and Greystone Estates | Library, Greystone Estates, School, your Farmhouse |
| Edwin | Devoutly religious former classmate | Town, School, your Farmhouse |
| Ellie | Cheerful former classmate drawn to creepy mysteries | Town, School, your Farmhouse |
| Josh | Wary former classmate worried about the town's disappearances | Town, School, your Farmhouse |
| Molly | Blacksmith who runs the Workshop on the Farm Path | Workshop, School, your Farmhouse |
| Sam | Former classmate obsessed with the night sky | Greystone Estates, Town, School |
| Tanner | Former classmate living in a cabin by the Old Woods | Town, Farm Path, your Farmhouse |
Most candidates are old schoolmates of your character, which is why the School shows up in so many schedules. Each one keeps a daily routine that changes by time of day and day of the week. Alice, for example, spends Sundays at the Church, evenings at the Elderfield Saloon, and goes home when it rains or snows — so if someone is missing from their usual spot, check the time, the day and the weather.
How hearts work
Every character has a ten-heart meter. You fill it by talking to them and, above all, by giving gifts.
- Gift limit: one gift per character per day, and at most two per week.
- Personal taste comes first: a character's own loved and hated items override the universal gift lists.
- First-time bonus: a gift type they have not received before is worth more than a repeat.
| Gift type | First time | Repeat |
|---|---|---|
| Loved | 11 points | 8 points |
| Liked | 8 points | 6 points |
| Universal liked | 7 points | 5 points |
| Neutral | 5 points | 4 points |
| Hated | −11 points | −11 points |
| Love Potion (works on anyone) | 12 points | — |
With only two gifts a week, what you give matters far more than how often. Hand over loved items you have not given that person yet, and never waste a slot on something they hate — one hated gift erases a loved one.
Heart milestones
| Hearts | What unlocks |
|---|---|
| 3 | Low-tier friendship letter |
| 5 | Mid-tier friendship letter |
| 8 | High-tier friendship letter |
| 10 | The character can be proposed to |
What arrives with each letter depends on the character. Alice's letters, for example, include one random item: a Lesser Holy Water, Experience Potion or Iron Bar at 3 hearts, and a Soulfruit Seed, Greater Dream Crystal or Duskberry Cake at 8 hearts.
How to propose: the Ring of Binding
You propose by giving a candidate at 10 hearts a Ring of Binding. You cannot buy it — you craft it at a Jeweller's Desk. The recipe is known from the start, but you can only craft the ring once, so choose your partner carefully.
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Crafting Pattern | 5 |
| Platinum Bar | 5 |
| Void Crystal Bar | 5 |
| Beating Heart | 1 |
| Viscera | 10 |
The ring cannot be sold. Once a 10-heart candidate accepts it, the marriage sequence starts and the wedding takes place at the Church. After the wedding your spouse has their own home conversations and gifts.
